Due to its synthetic structure, the material exhibits high thermal conductivity in the film plane (x-y plane) that is anisotropic to heat spreading and extremely high conductivity in the vertical direction (z-direction). Its flexibility allows the film to adapt very well to uneven contact surfaces, such as IGBT base plates, thereby optimizing thermal contact. This minimizes the overall thermal interface resistance. Compared to copper or aluminum, these materials are very well suited for applications with high weight requirements.
