The coupling protects the drive train from excessively high torque shocks that can occur due to unforeseen blockages. When the set torque is exceeded (overload condition), the coupling disengages, and a residual torque of approximately 5 – max. 20% of the set torque remains. Once the overload is removed, the coupling automatically re-engages upon reaching the re-engagement position after 360°.
