Use of heat from wastewater in the sewer system - the pipeline - gold beneath our feet

Wastewater in the piping system, in combination with heat pumps and refrigeration machines, is an ideal energy source for heating and cooling buildings. According to our experience, the minimum requirements for such an installation are: - a wastewater flow of approximately 10 l/s - a wastewater temperature level of around 10 ºC - an absorbed power starting from 100 kW (for heating and cooling, starting from approximately 50 kW). Throughout the journey of the wastewater through the piping towards the treatment plant, there are many opportunities to utilize thermal energy. Wastewater can even be used multiple times in succession as an energy source. Despite receiving new flows, discharging into larger collectors, or even due to the thermal contribution from cooling systems, the temperature variation of the wastewater is fundamentally marginal.
