Exploitation of waste heat in wastewater pipes - the gold beneath our feet

In combination with heat pumps and chillers, wastewater in the pipes represents an ideal energy source for heating and cooling buildings. Minimum requirements for such an installation, defined based on our experience: - a wastewater volume of approx. 10 l/s - a wastewater temperature level of approx. 10 °C. - a power requirement starting from 100 kW (for heating and from approx. 50 kW for cooling). In the wastewater circuit between the pipeline and the treatment plant, there are multiple possibilities for harnessing thermal energy. Wastewater can be used repeatedly as an energy source. Despite new water inflows, the flow into larger collectors, or heat input from cooling systems, the temperature variations of the wastewater are often minimal.
