Corn gluten meal is a byproduct obtained from the wet milling process of corn during the production of corn starch. The final product is a homogeneous, fine powder with a yellow-orange color. It has a fresh cereal aroma. Corn gluten meal is rich in protein and fairly good in methionine, which is valuable for laying hens. The relatively high content of yellow xanthophylls makes gluten-free corn meal a popular choice for poultry pigmentation.
