Corn gluten meal is a byproduct obtained from the wet milling process of corn during the production of corn starch. The final product is a fine, homogeneous powder that is yellow-orange in color. It has a fresh cereal aroma. Corn gluten meal is high in protein and quite rich in methionine, which is valuable for laying hens. The relatively high content of yellow xanthophylls makes corn gluten meal a popular choice for bird pigmentation.
