Château Baret

Commentary Château Baret has its origins in the 4th century. The property, located in the Pessac-Léognan appellation, has been owned for several generations by the Lords of Baret, a family of merchants and shipowners. Ballande acquired the estate in 1867. Following a fire in the early 20th century, expansion work on the charterhouse was carried out, complemented by significant restructuring both in the vineyard and the winery. One of the few inner-city vineyards, a remnant of the early Bordeaux vineyards from the Gallo-Roman period, it spans an area of 25.80 hectares to the east of Bordeaux. With an average age of 25 years, the vines are planted on Garonne gravel and clay-limestone subsoils, ensuring ideal drainage and deep rooting.
