Chlorella is a freshwater algae rich in many nutrients. It is more expensive than spirulina due to its longer and more complicated production process. Its dark green color is due to the presence of chlorophyll. It contains more than twice the amount of nucleic acid and chlorophyll compared to spirulina, but less protein and a bit of beta-carotene.
