Chateau Maucaillou, Moulis - Dourthe Family

Simultaneously, J. Petit-Laroche established a new vineyard on one and a half hectares at the locations known as "MAUCAILLOU" and "CAUBET," which will be named Château MAUCAILLOU. "MAUCAILLOU" means "bad pebbles," as understood by farmers in the Middle Ages, because such gravelly plots of land were unsuitable for any cereal cultivation, the main source of survival at that time. Later, it was realized that these gravelly slopes provided an ideal terroir for high-expression vineyards. Thus, MAUCAILLOU was born, a winery brimming with talent, as its wines have consistently been celebrated since 1889, worldwide, in competitions and "blind tastings" among professionals.
