The basic principle of the falling film evaporator relies on a good distribution of the feed liquid evenly across all tubes. To achieve this, one or more distribution trays located at the top of the evaporator cover the entire tube plate. Our distribution system, used and optimized for several years, ensures that the internal surface of each tube is individually wetted correctly. The liquid film descends along the tubes by the force of gravity. The heat applied through the walls of each tube causes the lighter fraction of the liquid mixture to evaporate. The image shows an evaporator operating in co-current mode, with the vapor and liquid phases exiting the bottom of the evaporator and entering the separation vessel.
