The pendulum elements spread the wet feed product in a thin layer over the heated wall and mix the material of the product layer intensively. Therefore, the volatile components continuously evaporate from the product layer at high evaporation rates. The pendulum elements are designed with a minimal gap to prevent product from dirtying the heating surface, but they never come into contact with the heated wall. The product enters the dryer from the top. Evaporation begins after heating to the boiling point. In the suspension zone, the first solids are formed, and with the progressive evaporation of the volatiles and the continuous shearing by the pendulum elements, the paste breaks down into powder. The final solid product is discharged by gravity at the bottom of the dryer through a suitable air lock.
