Organic Carob Powder

Origin of Carob: Carob powder is derived from the carob tree (Ceratonia siliqua), which is primarily found in the Mediterranean region. The plant is known for its pods that are high in nutrients. Carob powder can be used as a substitute for cocoa, as the flavors are quite similar; carob is simply sweeter and has a mild nutty taste. The carob tree can grow up to 15 meters tall. Its crown is broad and hemispherical, supported by a thick trunk with rough brown bark and sturdy branches. The carob tree is widely cultivated but also grows wild in the eastern Mediterranean regions. Carob trees can withstand long periods of drought, but to produce fruit for carob powder, they require 500 to 550 millimeters of rain per year. Processing of Carob Powder: Carob powder is made from the dark brown seeds found in the pods of the carob tree.
