Microdrilling by Spark Erosion

This modern machining technique offers numerous advantages over more well-known methods. Steec is pleased to provide its full expertise in the field of micro-drilling through spark erosion to its customers. In principle, this machining process is similar to wire erosion. The difference, however, is that the cutting tool is no longer a wire, but an electrode shaped according to the desired final form. The workpiece and the tool (electrode) do not come into contact; instead, an arc is generated between them, which removes material from the workpiece. This is also referred to as "sink erosion." The workpiece must be absolutely conductive for this technique to be applicable. This is the minimum requirement for the application of this process.
