SILCAWOOL 120, 120P, and 130 are high-temperature glass fibers with increased bio-solubility based on calcium magnesium silicate, providing an alternative to aluminum silicate wool. Due to their high bio-solubility, they do not fall under hazardous material classification. SILCAWOOL exhibits excellent thermal stability in normal oxidizing atmospheres. However, due to the high bio-solubility, there is reduced resistance to chemical attack, especially in humid environments in conjunction with acids or alkalis. SILCAWOOL 120 fibers can also be supplied as loose wool and contain lubricants that outgas when heated. Paper made from SILCAWOOL 120 fibers contains binders that escape upon heating. SILCAWOOL 120P and 130 mats are needled on both sides and have high tensile strength. The mats do not contain any organic binders.
