Hardness and Scratch Testing Machine

The SAAST520/1 constant load hardness and scratch test machine allows for the scratch resistance test, one of the most important indicators for assessing the hardness of coatings. The test involves a controlled scratching, performed using a tip on a selected area. A sample is fixed and slowly moved under the tip to scratch the surface of the coating. Depending on the test procedures, constant or variable loads can be applied to achieve different degrees of failure, from a simple mark to the destruction of the layer. This procedure is one of the commonly used methods to obtain the limit loads related to the adhesive properties of coatings.
