Maritime Pine - Essential Oils

Tree from the family of Abietaceae that can reach 30m in height, the maritime pine features a grayish bark that cracks over time and curved needles approximately 10cm long. A species of short longevity, resistant to heat, it thrives in acidic and siliceous soils but not in calcareous ones, and adapts perfectly to sandy terrains with high salinity. The maritime pine provides three types of essential oils: the first is obtained by steam distillation of the needles; the second is extracted from the resin and results in an essential oil commonly known as "turpentine oil"; the last is derived from the bark of the tree. The use of maritime pine essential oil orally remains subject to the advice of a healthcare professional.
