The Watermark Sensor is a hassle-free, user-friendly sensor, as watermarks are maintenance-free, frost-resistant, and buffered against fluctuating salt content in the soil solution. The sensor cable can be extended up to 100m. Data interpretation is straightforward and transferable from site to site, as the measurement result is output as a suction tension value. The sensor reacts somewhat slower to changing soil moisture compared to tensiometers or volumetric measuring sensors.
