Deep Drawing

Deep drawing is one of the most important processes in sheet metal forming and is a common alternative to metal pressing. This forming technique is particularly used in the production of hollow bodies, such as containers or pots, and is applied both in mass production and in the manufacture of individual pieces. Deep drawing is a tensile-compressive forming process of a flat sheet metal blank into a one-sided open hollow body. The slimmer the metal piece is to be, the more deep drawing strokes are necessary. Deep drawing results in a seamless reduction of the diameter of the metal. This forming technique is used in many industrial sectors, including automotive manufacturing.
