Controlled Atmosphere Welding

For certain welding projects, controlling the atmosphere is a key factor for success. Controlled atmosphere welding is designed for this purpose: it allows for the sealing of subassemblies, with control over the pressure or vacuum of the part being sealed! What is a controlled atmosphere? A controlled atmosphere involves creating a vacuum in a sealed chamber or trapping a gas under pressure (equal to or less than 1 bar relative). Neutral gases like helium or nitrogen are used to achieve the desired atmosphere, free from particles or oxygen molecules. By controlling the gas pressure in a chamber during a welding operation, it is possible to avoid any contamination! For what type of welding is atmosphere control necessary? For manufacturing certain electronic devices, controlled atmosphere welding is recommended. This is particularly true for active implants or electronic sensors!
