Sasso Pisano, Fumaroles and Biancane - Larderello Geothermal Park

D’Annunzio, "Perhaps Yes, Perhaps No", 1910) We will depart from the village of Sasso Pisano, nestled in the area of the Metalliferous Hills known as the Valley of the Devil of Dante's Memory, a region already known in the times of the Etruscans and Romans and mentioned in the famous "Peutinger Table". We will delve into the spectacular Park of the Fumaroles, a triumph of evocative landscapes characterized by phenomena such as the Soffioni (steam jets), the Putizze (emanations containing hydrogen sulfide), the Lagoni (small hot water pools fed by a small jet at the base), but also by larger and lesser-known phenomena such as the Bulicami (emissions of bubbling mud water) and the Mofete (cracks in the ground with water vapor and volcanic gases).
