Domaine Jacques Prieur - Grand Cru Clos de Vougeot 2019

The wine: With nearly 51 hectares, Clos de Vougeot is the largest of the Grands Crus in Burgundy. Within this vineyard, the Jacques Prieur estate has a plot of just over one hectare with predominantly clay soil. Thanks to this terroir, the estate produces an incredible wine with a broad palate and exceptional finesse. The 22-month aging in barrels (of which 50% are new) beautifully polishes this cuvée, which evolves with seductive fruity notes (cherry, strawberry, raspberry), spicy hints (licorice, pepper), as well as a delightful underbrush and humus aspect. The harmony is complete, and the length is exceptional, once again proving the expertise of this legendary house. A great wine for aging, to be paired with poultry, red meats, and game.
