Through riveting, inseparable form-fitting connections are created. The connection is achieved by the reshaping or molding of the thermoplastic material. In this process, mostly only point or segment-like joining seams are realized. In contrast to welding two components, tight welds cannot be achieved. A special variant of this process is the joining of plastics with metals, textiles, and cardboard. Commonly used components are wooden decorative parts, in which a chrome decorative strip is embedded. Hot air riveting operates contactlessly during the heating phase. A continuously circulating hot air stream heats the rivet pin. The shaping of the rivet head occurs with a cold stamp in a separate station. Through the subsequent cooling phase under pressure influence and form constraint, a lower relaxation of the plastic is achieved.
