Using spray drying technology, fine, dust-free, and free-flowing products are produced. The starting material is typically liquefied and then finely atomized. The heat exchange with the drying air is brief and intense—resulting in powdery particles with particle sizes between 20 and 200 µm. In addition to spray drying technology, fluidized bed technology offers various possibilities for designing different products or functional ingredients. With this technology, multiple processes can be executed in just one apparatus, such as spray granulation and agglomeration or coating. Coating is particularly useful when a negative odor or an unpleasant taste needs to be masked during the production of animal feed.
