Anodizing

Anodizing is the abbreviation for electrolytic oxidation of aluminum. The decorative appearance of the aluminum sheets is achieved before the electrolysis in a specially formulated sodium hydroxide solution. In this process, the surface of the amphoteric aluminum is uniformly stripped. The anodized layer builds up from the outside in, with the current flowing through pores that are formed in the layer due to the process. Subsequently, the components can optionally be dyed in a variety of colors. To ensure reliable corrosion protection, the anodized layer is densified in the final treatment bath in boiling, fully deionized water.
