Permanent Magnets - Alnico

Metallic alloy magnets made from aluminum, nickel, cobalt, as well as iron, copper, and titanium. They are produced through sand casting, die casting, vacuum precision casting, and sintering. AlNiCo is the oldest magnetic material still in use today. AlNiCo magnets have a low coercive field strength combined with high remanence—therefore, they need to have a considerable length in the magnetization direction to achieve a reasonably good resistance to demagnetization. They possess a very low temperature coefficient of 0.02% per °C, making them usable from -270°C to over +400°C. They are employed in applications where a constant magnetic field is required despite significant temperature fluctuations. AlNiCo magnets are almost exclusively produced in an anisotropic form. Due to the rising costs of cobalt and the low coercive field strength, mass usage is declining.
