Telephone or in-person interpretation in a social setting

In this category of interpreting, interpreters are sometimes referred to as community interpreters, cultural mediators, liaison interpreters, or simply social interpreters. They all serve as a link between the person who does not speak the language of the society in which they live and public structures (administrations, social services, etc.). In most English-speaking countries, they are called 'community interpreters.'
